Scar 3D ($5.99) A woman trying to escape traumatic memories from her past finds history repeating itself in this gory horror story. Joan Burrows was an ordinary teenager growing up in a small Colorado town until she and a friend were abducted by Ernie Bishop, who ran the local funeral parlor. Joan and her friend discovered to their horror that Ernie was a violent lunatic who performed elaborate torture rituals on young women, and while Joan was able to escape with her life, her friend was killed. Sixteen years later, Joan who bears a facial scar and vivid memories of the attack, returns home for the first time to visit her older brother Jeff and his daughter Olympia who has been voted queen of the local high school’s senior prom. However, the mutilated bodies of Olympia’s friends and classmates are soon littering the town, and both Joan and Jeff suspect that Ernie is back and up to his old tricks.
Re-Animator ($5.99) Herbert West is a brilliant medical student who has perfected a green-glowing serum for regenerating life into dead things or even parts of dead things. But a corrupt superior, Dr. Carl Hill, assumes control of West’s experiments and winds up, by ghastly necessity, using the stuff on his own severed head and body. West and in over his head co-worker Dan Cain struggle to control the now out of control effects of the serum, but the bone saws and zombies complicate their plans.
Motivational Growth ($8.99) Unusual tale about a depressed man named Ian who receives relationship advice from a large piece of mold growing his bathroom.
Saw V ($7.99) Jigsaw might be dead, but his traps live on in this fifth Saw entry, which finds the series’ production designer David Hackl at the helm for his debut directing gig. Costas Mandylor reprises his role as Hoffman, the detective whose involvement in the string of grisly murders turns out to be more than meets the eye. Picking up where the fourth entry left off, Hoffman is revealed to be a hidden accomplice in Jigsaw’s grisly games of death, which look to be continued by the lawman. The plot bounces back and forth from the beginning of their relationship to the present, as Agent Strahm delves farther into the case.
Final Thought: The value of this box was $28.96 which I think is good for a $24.99 box. Horror Pack did a great job with the selection this month! If you are into horror movies this will be perfect for you!
